Ronald D. Arena is an experienced litigator who has been representing employers in a wide range of employment matters in California and New York for over ten years. He has represented employers in federal and state courts around the country in discrimination, harassment, retaliation, whistleblower, disability, trade secret, and unfair competition litigation. In addition, Mr. Arena has advised employers on a broad spectrum of employment issues, including disability and other protected leaves of absence, terminations, employment policies and procedures, wage and hour compliance, protection of trade secrets, litigation avoidance, layoffs, and administrative proceedings. Mr. Arena has spoken on a variety of employment related topics, including workplace privacy, harassment investigations, workplace violence, deposition techniques, trial strategies, and electronic discovery. Mr. Arena has also published articles on employment-related topics, including mandatory arbitration agreements, credit reporting legislation, harassment investigations, individual liability under discrimination laws, and EPLI defense.

Professional and Educational Background

Mr. Arena received his J.D. from Cornell University in 1997 and began his career as a management-side employment attorney in the New York City office of Vedder Price. In 2001, Mr. Arena relocated to San Francisco, California, where he currently lives with his wife and three children.

Mr. Arena received his undergraduate degree in English Literature, cum laude, from Columbia University in 1994. He also served in the U.S. Navy where he received a Letter of Commendation for his role in extinguishing a fire aboard the USS Inchon in November 1989.
